Stained Glass Window Panels? An Inexpensive Alternative
I’m not going to kid you, a real stained glass window panel is beautiful. It is stylish, adds tremendous class and character to any room in your home, and quite simply can be the focal piece of conversations and admiration. Who doesn’t want that?
However, along with the beauty, comes a pricetag. Authentic stained glass window panels can be rather expensive. Just doing a cursory search on Google, I found several examples ranging from 90 to 150 dollars for a single panel! So the question begs, is there another way?
I believe there is. Stained glass window film is that alternative. While I won’t say its 100% exactly the same, I do believe in certain areas of your home, it makes sense to use window film instead of a real glass panel.
Let me show you a few examples and see if you agree?
On a popular discount shopping website I found some real stained glass panels. Here is what one of them looked like:

In this instance, this stained glass panel is already framed and has hook eylets at the top of the frame for hanging. This means that you’d need to screw chains or corresponding eyelets into your window frame, door frame or ceiling in order to hang this panel. Another option would be to set the panel into a floor stand or window stand. Be careful with that though, as a metal frame stand can scratch wood floors and window boxes fairly easily.
An alternative to using a real glass panel is as I mentioned, using decorative stained glass window film. Here is an image of a great use of this type of film. The window you see above is basically out of normal day to day functionality. Why not utilize a nice looking window film to permanently add the style you are seeking?
Heres the photo of the decorative window film:

So you see, the window film doesn’t look too bad in this instance. At least I don’t think so. And at 50-70% difference in price, I think you’ll agree that in the economic climate we’re in, saving money where it makes sense is a good idea.
