Shower Door Film – Add Privacy and Style to your Bathroom

If you have a bathroom in your home that contains a shower door that has been installed in the last 10 years, chances are that it is made of clear solid glass.
The design and style of many modern bathrooms can consist of a complete glass shower enclosure or perhaps a tiled surround with a solid glass entry door. This type of style may look good in a magazine or when trying to sell your home, but for practical everyday living there can be a couple of concerns.
First, if you are conservative in nature at all, a solid clear glass shower enclosure would leave you completely exposed while showering. If the thought of someone walking in on you while you’re in the shower frightens you, then please read on.
Second, as daily use takes its toll on the glass, soap scum and hard water stains can build up fast without proper care. What this means is that over time, your once pristine clear glass shower now looks like it has a bad case of dandruff!
One possible solution is the use of decorative frosted glass film for use on the shower surfaces. This static cling adhesive free film normally used for windows, can also be used in the bathroom for your shower.
The heat and humidity don’t affect the application of the film, and its easier and much less toxic than using frosted spray paint or acid to etch the glass. Most installations of the window film material can be applied in a single afternoon while the rest of the family is busy with other activities.
One thing I like about using this type of material vs. paint or etching acid is that it is removable. If you ever decide to sell your house, its certainly a lot easier to restore the shower to its orginal state than it is scraping off frosted paint and possibly damaging the glass.
Also, remember, applying a frosted semi transparent film, will still provide plenty of privacy but also still allow natural light to come into the shower area if you are close to an outside light source.
Here’s an example picture of a shower that has had this type of treatment applied to it.
Of course this is just one kind of film that is shown here. There are many choices and styles avaialable on the market, and most of these window film materials can be purchased for less cost directly online. Consider your own bathroom style and layout and have fun picking out your new shower door film!

You got it right, these purely glass doors just look pretty when it’s new. But after a couple of months it not anymore pleasing to the eyes. You’ve got great recommendations here. Thanks.
