PostHeaderIcon Making Your Own Stained Glass Window Clings for Fun!

With the colder and wetter weather setting in across the US very soon, I thought I would update the blog today with a creative idea that can engage your whole family and allow you to have fun in the process. It involves creating your own static window clings instead of purchasing them. These can be used as sun catchers, bathroom decorations, placed on mirors, glass doors, glass windows and anywhere else that a static cling window decal might go.

I was going to try to describe the process by words, but honestly I couldn’t even come close to doing as good a job as this youtube video. The instructor in the video does an outstanding job of describing the process of creating the stained glass window decals and even shows you a fancy way to jazz up flower vases at the end. She doesn’t mention her name in the video, but I just want to thank her for such a wonderful video. It is really cool! Oh yes…one other note, if you are a bride to be (or know one) in the coming year and are completely baffled on a unique idea for a wedding shower centerpiece, this might be a fun project to do with friends and really impress your guests. You’ll see what I mean in the video.

Also if you are interested in trying out this project yourself and wanted to order it before the holidays kick in, I put a few links to Amazon’s website below to make it easy to purchase. In the interest of full disclosure I want to mention that I do get a very small commission (about 4%) if you end up buying these paint kits though these links. Hopefully you’ll find value in the fact that I’m saving you a little bit of time searching for the products. If not, no worries. I hope you still do the projects and have fun with your family. Any time you can step away from the television and spend time with your children is time well spent. Enjoy your window clings!

Here are the Amazon Links to the kits that allow you to do the same thing as shown in this video.  There are 2 starter kit packs so they are probably good for just a few decals.  I’ve also included a pattern book if you aren’t artistic. Also, don’t let the ratings of the products scare you.  I read through the comments and it appears that other people who purchased this window paint were actually trying to apply the lead liner and the window paint onto actual windows.  This would be extremely frustrating and difficult for a beginner vs. what this video shows …which is to apply the painting materials on a flat work surface.  Enjoy!
