Adding Window Cling Decals Makes Good Cents!

One of the most recent trends that I’ve enjoyed watching in the window film decorating niche is that of what I like to call accenting. By accenting, I’m referring to using window film borders and window film corner accents to enhance your decorating style. These usually come in the form of static cling window decals and are a very inexpensive way to add some really great style to any room or window.
Many times, decorating an entire home or window, especially if its a large surface leaves people uneasy. Some homeowners probably think that a huge sheet of stained glass window film covering over their front entry door is a “bit too much”. I’m in complete agreement if you’ve already recognized that it wouldn’t be the right fit for your current decorating scheme. A entryway or room that screams “too gaudy, or too loud” is never a welcome addition to a home’s charisma.
In most recent times, there is a way where you can just touch up specific windows or side lights, or even coffee tables, sliding glass doors, mirrors or whatever you can think of. This is done with pre-cut and styled window cling decals. Some of these static cling window film decals just peel and stick or some of the higher quality styles are installed exactly like the other decorative window films.
Essentially, you clean the window surface thoroughly, spray down the area with soapy water, place the decal on the window…while also taking care to spray it down too. Once in place, you squeegee any remaining water and air bubbles out of the cling and let it dry.
It gets a bit tricky sometimes trying to hold the small pieces of window film in place and removing the air bubbles. I’ve found that it helps to use one hand to press firmly against a corner or end of the film, and then squeegee away from you. Once you have the bulk of that area dry, then switch hands and take the water and air out of the end of the window film that you were holding tight. Otherwise, the tiny pieces of window film have a tendency to move all over the place because they don’t have enough surface area to hold their positions.
Probably the best reason though in my mind to consider using these window cling decals is the economic reason. Full sheets of high quality decorative window film can be somewhat expensive. ( editors note: Window film’s cost is nowhere near the cost of traditional blinds, or curtains). These borders and accents are a fraction of the cost of the full rolls of film and yet can really still make a huge difference in the atmosphere of your room. You can see by the attached pictures, how even small touches really bring out the beauty of a room.
So where is the best place to purchase these types of quality window clings? I personally still believe that online speciality retailers like Wallpaper for Windows and others gives the best options to shoppers. They offer low shipping costs and give you so many varieties and styles to choose from, you’re bound to find a decorative window film cling that you will love!
